The NRKC and its headline sponsor STROCAM are pleased to announce the much whispered about event this year. The STROCAM / Maponya Mall Kart Festival will be held in the parking area of the Billion rand Maponya Mall complex on Saturday June 27^th, 2009.

This will see the launch of the first official race meeting ever held in Soweto. The organisers have been feverishly working behind the scenes with the management of Maponya Mall as well as organisers of this year’s Loxion Motorshow to construct a temporary kart circuit in the main parking area of the mall. This event will run concurrently with the annual motorshow that sees displays and exhibition stands positioned all over the Mall.

The circuit is estimated at a length of 914 meters with as many as 20 turns in it. It also boasts a main straight of no less than 150 meters long with plenty of overtaking opportunities. The circuit is also situated next to the new ABSA Hot-Air Balloon, allowing visitors to get an aerial view of the event.
