Roman de Beer, 2009 Junior ROK World Champion, took part in his first single seater event over the weekend of the 24th April 2010 - in the first round of the Italian Formula Abarth series at Misano.  The 2010 Formula Abarth season will be the sixth season of the former Formula Azzurra, and the first under its new guise of "Formula Abarth". It began on April 24 in Misano and will finish on October 14 in Monza.

Formula Abarth, formerly known as Formula Azzurra, is an open wheel racing series based in Italy. The first season was in 2005. Since 2008, the main Formula Azzurra category has been known as the Trofeo Alboreto. For 2010, Abarth have committed to a five-year initiative that will see the series being renamed Formula Abarth
